Through her works of art, Linda Sonnenberg Jackson hopes to share her 'awe'..."my art is the realm of the spirit being expressed into the realm of the material."
She took part in the RBC Emerging Artists program, under the mentorship of Macel Debreuil, and is now an associate artist at the NorVA Centre.
Before this, Linda took art classes with carious art instructors in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, including workshops with Ed Martyniuk (hosted on TV; demonstrating the 'Bob Ross' technique of oil painting).
Her sculptures and murals have been featured in the media several times, with many of her pieces finding residence in Europe, USA, South Africa, Australia, and, of course, Canada.
Linda has won over thirty rubbons, numerous honourable mentions, three 'People's Choice' awards, a 'Best of the Show award and People's Third Choice (titled 'Into the Rustic' for all of Manitoba's juried art displayed at Winnipeg's legislature building in 2007.
Presently, Linda's main focus is creating a variety of sculptures ranging from small items (such as candy dishes) to large projects (such as floor to ceiling sculpted shelves), with her fascination of metallic colours always being foremost in her mind with each new work of art she undertakes.
Everything about the north inspires me...
...the magic of colours, the realms of textures, the uniqueness of forms...
All this fascination and intrigue seems to gather into inner passions, dance with
my emotions, and touch upon a yearning to express my interpretation of the
mystical and the beautiful into shapes and forms and hues...
...into my sculptues...
...into my works of art...
Art is something I am compelled to do; I must do, I just have to...
