NorVA Artist Retreat! The 4th NorVA Artist Retreat is being held at the Bakers Narrows Conference Centre. Enjoy the company of fellow artists in a week long non instructional retreat. The relaxed, generous, sharing atmosphere will light the creative fire within.
August 17th to the 24th, 2014 at the Bakers Narrows Conference Centre - it's gorgeous and the camping at the Provincial campground is really special, they have yurts too. The Lodge has log cabin rentals right on site.

Open Sunday August 17 at 6:00 p.m. Set up may take place at that time. No evening meal is planned. Artists will work as they wish from dawn to dusk and beyond. Baker’s Narrows Conference center will house the retreat. A huge outdoor tent is set up for those who love a more outdoor experience.
Monday after lunch we will gather for introductions and opening remarks.
Every afternoon at around 4:00 those who wish to share their days progress can join a happy hour of show and tell. Writing, Poetry and music sharing are encouraged
Saturday evening, August 23 from 7:00 to 9:00 we will have an exhibition of our work and enjoy a relaxed social atmosphere. Artists do not have to stop working though. The exhibit will be open to the public, followed by music around a campfire and hot tubbing!
Sunday morning, August 24, we will pack up and clean up by noon.
Informal demonstrations during the retreat by artists for artists are encouraged. ( well even formal ones, if you want to dress up)
Cost: $160.00 checques payable to NorVA Centre, 177 Green Street Flin Flon Mb. R8A 0G5
(Try to pay by July 15th or if you can’t by then, have a word with Mike Spencer) Due to the smaller venue it is important the you register early. We can have 22 people inside.
Meals: In order to minimize costs artists will team up with one or two other artists to take turns cooking one meal. The benefit is not only in minimizing the costs but in providing sharing recipes and favorite dishes with each other. Don’ break the bank! Use of leftovers is totally absolutely encouraged ( and necessary).
Basic breakfast, coffee and tea are provided as part of the registration fee. Karen will contact you in good time to plan with your partners.
Artists are responsible for bringing their own supplies including a paper table cover and ground sheet to cover their floor space. Extension cord and lighting will be useful too. The lodge is a log building.
Accomodation: You can stay on site, in town or at the Provincial Campground.
1. Accomodation is available through the Bakers Narrows Lodge.
Contact Peg Baynton. 204 681 3250 . You can check out their website at:
Cabin rental is $160 for 2 people, with an additional $25/night for additional people. We have 2 family cabins which have a double bed in 1 bedroom, and 2 sets of bunk beds (so 4 beds) in the other room. It works very well for families, but we do have some people who rent them for a group of 6 people. When you stay 6 nights, you get the 7th night free. All cabins are equipped with wifi, as well as satellite TV, and have a 3 pc bath with shower, and a kitchenette where they can prepare their own meals if they so wish.
Tenting without power would be $11.00 per night
Trailer site rental is $22 without power, and $28 with power.
2. The Baker’s Narrows Provincial Campground is just across the road from the Retreat area. Easily within walking distance. It is beautiful. They have yurts that sleep 6 for $40.00 per night. The views and swimming are spectacular. To book a site call early (now!) and reserve with a credit card number.
