WHAT IS NORVA?

Picture

NorVA stands for Northern Visual Arts.
The NorVA Centre is an art studio, a gallery,
and a place of learning.

OPEN:
Tuesday - Friday, 10am - 5pm
Saturday 12:30-4:30

OUR VISION

NorVA is a vibrant centre promoting visual arts in the North.
Our mandate is to enhance our culturally vibrant community by providing a creative, dynamic, welcoming space where visual artists can develop, educate, exhibit and grow.

By focusing on developing visual arts, mentorship, exhibition and creative growth in the Flin Flon area, the NorVA Centre offers opportunities for all members of the community.

WHAT WE DO

  • Provide affordable studio space to resident artists
  • Display and sell original artwork by local artists in an open and inviting gallery
  • Hold art classes for varying ages and interests, courtesy of both local and guest artists
  • Organize art shows and host free exhibits all year-round (local and visiting artists)
  • Rent meeting space to local organizations (Photo Club, Northern Palette Art Club, etc.)
  • Collaborate with community groups on projects of local interest
  • Hold a week-long artist retreat every August which is open to artists of all skill levels

HOW DO I BECOME A RESIDENT ARTIST?

  1. Visit us at 177 Green Street, Flin Flon (between Domino's and Johnny's Social Club)
  2. Register with the manager. Resident Artists pay $30 per month, 3 months at a time.
  3. Get yourself set up! We have some tables here but many artists bring in their own work table/desk. The same goes for chairs.
  4. Meet our lovely members and make yourself at home.

NOTE: We have many members that choose to work from home, but with their NorVA membership they can display their art here and be an active part of the local art community..

PLUS: We have scholarships for developing artists that can be used to cover the cost of workshops, as well as
member fees. For more information about scholarships call Karen Clark at home, 204-687-3080.

Classes & Workshops

NorVA tries to offer at least one class/workshop per month. Class fees vary!
* We require a minimum number of students registered in order to run a class.
* Some classes will have a maximum number of students as well, so register early!

Our Community

NorVA is located in Flin Flon, Manitoba;
the Canadian Shield and the Boreal Forest
north of the 54th parallel is our home.
Our studio gallery and artists serve Flin Flon and Cranberry Portage in Manitoba, and Creighton and Denare Beach in Saskatchewan.
NorVA is housed in a building with historic ties to the heartbeat of Flin Flon.  It provides a dynamic, welcoming space for visual artists of all ages.
